Environmental

Thompson & Knight attorneys have been actively involved in the practice of environmental law for more than 30 years. In the late 1960s, before the enactment of the major federal environmental statutes, an industrial client of the Firm with facilities in five states was sued to compel installation of air pollution controls. As a result, we became heavily involved in the defense of air pollution litigation just as both the law and science in the area began to develop. Since then, our practice has grown in scope and complexity to address all aspects of federal, state, and local environmental laws, from their development to their application. The Firm's practice encompasses matters involving the application of laws including the Atomic Energy Act; Clean Air Act; Clean Water Act; Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act of 1980; Emergency Planning and Community Right-To-Know Act of 1986; Endangered Species Act; National Environmental Policy Act of 1969; Oil Pollution Act of 1990; Safe Drinking Water Act; Solid Waste Disposal Act; and Toxic Substances Control Act.
