William Prescott Mills Schwind

Practice Description

Scott Schwind focuses his practice on international energy and natural resources, with a particular emphasis on upstream, midstream, and downstream oil and gas transactions. Advising foreign and domestic companies and individuals in matters across the globe, he devotes much of his practice to assisting clients throughout Latin America and Africa.

Mr. Schwind's experience in oil and gas exploration and production projects includes concessions, production sharing contracts, operating agreements, participation agreements, farm-in arrangements, and drilling contracts. He also coordinates foreign and domestic acquisitions and divestitures of oil and gas producing properties and infrastructure; negotiates oil and gas transportation and processing arrangements, including with respect to crude oil and natural gas pipelines, lifting arrangements, fractionation, and storage projects; and structures crude oil processing agreements for petrochemical facilities. Additionally, he advises clients on domestic and international financing and security arrangements.

Mr. Schwind is fluent in Spanish, Portuguese, and French, and previously practiced law in São Paulo, Brazil.

  • Representation of a Texas exploration and production company in the disposition of oil and gas producing properties in the West Texas Overthrust Belt, Pecos County, Texas

  • Representation of an Angolan natural resources company in a joint venture for the development of a diamond mine in Lunda North, Angola

  • Representation of a joint venture between an international oil company and the national oil company of Saudi Arabia in drafting refined products transportation agreements for a new pipeline facility in Louisiana

  • Representation of a joint venture between an international oil company and the national oil company of Saudi Arabia in drafting and negotiating arrangements for the long term supply of gasoline, diesel, ethanol, B100 and B99 biodiesel, and other refined products

  • Representation of a joint venture between an international oil company and the national oil company of Saudi Arabia in drafting and negotiating arrangements for the construction of a loading terminal and for pipeline transportation services for gasoline, diesel, ethanol, B100 and B99 biodiesel, and other refined products
