Practice Description

Jane Politz Brandt is Co-Chair of the Firm's Intellectual Property Practice Group. She represents technology companies, sophisticated manufacturers, corporations, and financial institutions in intellectual property and commercial disputes. She has extensive experience in the representation of clients before federal and state trial and appellate courts and before arbitration panels.

Ms. Brandt's intellectual property practice includes licensing, patent validity and infringement, unfair competition, trademark and copyright, and trade secret disputes. She is also adept at advising companies on contract disputes, corporate and director liability, securities fraud, breach of fiduciary duties, internal corporate investigations, fraud, tortious interference, and other commercial disputes.

Ms. Brandt is also Chair of the Firm's Information Management and E-Discovery Solutions Practice Group. She assists clients in establishing effective information management policies, seeking discovery, and complying with discovery obligations.

Representations

  • Represented a computer technology manufacturer involving eight digital-audio and video-technology patents

  • Defended a hardware storage manufacturer in proceedings before the U.S. International Trade Commission relating to manufacture of semiconductor devices and obtained initial and final determinations of no violation relating to seven patents

  • Represented a storage, networking, and consumer electronics manufacturer in a patent litigation matter involving optical amplifier technology

  • Represented a computer technology manufacturer in a multi-patent lawsuit involving integrated circuit technology

  • Represented a bank and equipment manufacturer in patent litigation involving check scanning technology
